Preliminary Call for Papers
MALTA: 17 – 20 September 2012
The
Fifth International Conference on Concept Mapping follows on the
success of the four previous international conferences held in Pamplona,
Spain (2004); San Josè, Costa Rica (2006); Tallinn, Estonia/Helsinki,
Finland (2008) and Viña del Mar, Chile (2010). This conference aims to
bring together scholars and practitioners interested in the use of
concept maps which were first developed at Cornell University in 1972 by
Joseph Novak. It is being organized by the University of Malta and the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition.

Conference is intended for all persons interested in the use of concept
maps, including, but not limited to: facilitation of learning;
eliciting, capturing, archiving, and using 'expert' knowledge; planning
instruction; assessment of 'deep' understandings; research planning;
collaborative knowledge modeling; creation of 'knowledge portfolios';
and administrative planning and monitoring.

We expect
participants from a broad range of fields presenting a wide variety of
research and applications of concept mapping. The papers should present
substantial new results in theoretical, empirical and applied research
and studies in all areas of concept mapping. All presentations at the
conference are expected to include time for questions, answers, and
scholarly discussion.

Kindly note that this conference is about concept mapping, so papers that are not about concept mapping will be rejected.
All
papers should be written and presented in Spanish or English. The
Proceedings of the Conference will be published as a book by the
University of Malta and posted on the Conference website.
